It’s really great to see such an enthusiastic response to Rumiko Takahashi’s new series RIN-NE! And I enjoyed reading your recollections of how you were first introduced to Rumiko Takahashi’s work. Thanks for your replies!

I think the series got off to a fun start! I mean, you gotta love that quivering, trembling ghost Chihuahua! I also like that Rinne seems kind of clueless when it comes to the value of money and I can see that being the basis for humor throughout the series (I wonder if he’ll wise up). Of course we’ve only just been introduced to the two main characters, Rinne and Sakura. I’m really looking forward to meeting the entire cast of RIN-NE – I’m sure there are some very interesting characters waiting in the wings!

When chapter 1 finally went up on April 22nd, I was at last able to take a step back and really appreciate the finished product. There’s a big difference between looking at rough drafts, manuscripts, proofs with red pen scribbles all over them and the final finished pages!

A fan named Yumi asked about editing – yes, it’s a fun job! It’s also a lot of work (I’ll stress that). You need to be well-organized, detail-oriented, have excellent language skills, knowledge of the subject, and able to multi-task like crazy – I wish there were two of me sometimes! And you have to really love manga.

It was also great to find out how many Rumiko Takahashi fans there are around the world. We heard from fans in Germany, Australia and the UK to name just a few. VIZ has the online publishing rights for the manga in the U.S. and Canada only, but the rest of TheRumicWorld.com is accessible to anyone anywhere. We’ll be adding more content in the coming days and weeks, so please check it out.

I should mention that due to some holidays in Japan (Golden Week for those in the know), this week’s chapter will be live on Saturday, May 2, when the next issue of Shonen Sunday is released in Japan. Normally, each chapter will come out every Wednesday. Chapter 3 will be released Wednesday, May 13. To help you keep track of the publication dates and Rumiko Takahashi news, sign up for TheRumicWorld.com newsletter.

i really love all of rumikos work, but the first i ever read of her was inuyasha.there is one question i have allways wondered about, and that is 'what is inuyshas lifespan?'i mean, being half human he might have a human lifespan and the arrow that held him to the tree put him in a stasis and thats how he stayed the same for 50 years.is that right?i would hate to think that kagome would grow old and die and leave inuyashaalone again.please answer this question, its kept me up at night and i care for them as if they were family so i really want to know!if you answer i thank yu from the bottom of my heart.

It's great to read the new series, and thanks for having it up online, but is there any chance of an RSS for the comic itself getting set up? It's really the only way I keep track of websites anymore, and it would be a great way to get reminders. (I suppose it would also work if there were always a reminder here when a new chapter went up, but that could get tiring.)

Thanks for addressing the regional restrictions issue. It's annoying, but it's good to know that there's a valid reason for it (for VIZ). I hope we'll see more global deals being made for Internet streaming/etc. in the future, though. Much of the time these sorts of restrictions don't really help anybody.

I was cautiously excited rather earlier in the day, when I checked the _RINNE_ "Read Manga" home page and saw that it no longer said today was the day for the next episode to be posted. I figured that meant it was about to be. As I write, it is now 10:08pm Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4) on Saturday, May 2. And if Chapter 2 were up, I wouldn't be here writing this. Even in San Francisco, you have less than five hours of today ("2"-Day) left to make your schedule. What's up? Or, rather, why isn't what's supposed to be up already up? If there are problems, you could tell us . . . either here in the blog or on that same front page. If you're always aiming for 9pm EDT/6pm PDT as the posting time, you could tell us . . . either here in the blog or on that same front page. And if you don't tell us *SOME*thing, one of these moments the sheer number of anguished "waiters" checking and re-checking for the next chapter -- and the bandwidth pressure they/we generate in the absence of information from you -- may create the unintentional equivalent of a denial-of-service attack . . . and knock down your whole system along with the goodwill you're trying to generate with this almost-approaching-simultaneous publishing effort. Don't let that happen. Talk to us . . . please.

So where's the next chapter? It's may 2nd.

Umm... FYI, the chapter is already out in Japan because of time zones and stuff. In fact you can already buy the magazine here in America in certain stores. Couldn't your release be in time with Japan's time? Thanks anyway!

Wow do you know how hard it is to type when ur cats flicking his tail in your face and covering up the screen? oaky well never mind I'm just complaining. Anyway I just had a question about the whole editing job you see I really want to have manga being a big part of my future job options (Because of course I love it so much my mom thinks it's an addiction...well I won't lie it is pretty addicting) and lately i've been hoping to work on some skills to be an editor or something (I think it'd be AMAZING!) and since I'm fourteen I still have a few years to pick up my english grades....T.T anyway what is it like to be an editor and what skills must you have? and the whole multitasking thing I've got covered (Stands in pridefull manner) I can talk on the phone watch tv and make my lunch and do two other things at the same time...i'm amazing!
